Oh how Pinteresting Link Up!

I am linking up with Michelle at The Vintage Apple today for Oh How Pinteresting!

google

I have been pinning a bunch of Valentines Day stuff lately so I am going to go with that theme. I happen to be one of the few who loves Valentines Day, everything red & pink, cookies and cupcakes, and love in the air! Even if me and my hubby don't do anything but cook dinner together and stay home watching a movie, it's just a fun day to celebrate love. Some say why have a day that you have to "celebrate love", or they wish their man would give them flowers on any given random day. I feel the opposite, I think it's nice to have a day designated to make us think of love, because let's face it we are busy people and don't always have a chance to bake some cupcakes, make a valentine and tell someone we love them. We should do this daily, but since some don't we have good ol' Valentines day! :)

All pictures are linked back to pinterest so feel free go pin them yourself! If you want to find me on Pinterest I am here!

WW and the Golden Globes

Yesterday was Sunday so it was my weigh in day for Weight Watchers. I didn't lose, but I also didn't gain! For me, not gaining is just as good as losing. Maintenace is sometimes just as hard as losing weight, and while I am not where near the maintenance stage yet I was still proud for not gaining. That doesn't mean there wasn't an ounce of disappointment running through me, I had done really good last week and thought for sure I had lost. But Saturday night was when I used my extra points and had something to eat that was a bit heavy, and I was also plagued with my period post c-section. TMI, I know...but I was bloated and a normal period affects my weight, and this time was far from normal. Once I get through that this week and go next weekened I am hoping a loss catches up with me!

Now on to the Golden Globe awards last night. Ricky Gervais was the host for a second year in a row, even though last year he said he wouldn't do it again. He was funny as usual making fun of the stars, but not as funny as last year. Still, there were serveral laugh outload moments that I enjoyed.

But more so than the humor and the awards, I watch for the fashion. I love seeing who's wearing what! These were some of my favorites from last night.

By far my absolute favorite of the night, Reese Witherspoon, who is a flawless beauty on her worst day. This red Zac Posen gown was an impeccable choice of style, cut and color. I thought she stole the night!

Sofia Vergara, whom I typically find annoying and looking way over the top, looked classy and beautiful in this Vera Wang gown. The color was so different and pretty, great color for her.

Jessica Alba in Gucci. Loved the color, cut of this dress and the beaded details of this gown.

Kate Winslet looked stunning in this Jenny Packham belted gown. This picture does not do justice to how beautiful she looked. Kate is always a classic beautiful at all these award shows.

But truly, the highlight of the night was Tina Fey photobombing Amy Poelher. It was HILARIOUS! I love them both, and they both looked fabulous last week too!

Getting my Birchbox Back!

I have missed getting my Birchbox...I stopped my samples from coming to just save money, and quite honestly I wasn't all that interested in products towards the end of the pregnancy. But now since my belly is deflating and I am feeling like me again I am excited to get my samples again! I will start posting a monthly review of the Birchbox products. Sometimes there are some really great finds in there.

Two items that I have really fallen in love with that was introduced through a Birchbox is Zoya nail polish, which is a natural nail polish, works great, and comes in fabulous colors.

Check out Zoya's website here

And my other new favorite item is this Ahava Hand Cream. It goes on really thick and creamy, and as you lather it on your hands it the texture changes to a more silky watery solution. It sounds strange, but it works really well! And it doesn't make your hands greasy and gross which I can totally appreciate. Another perk, its a mineral based lotion. Love it!

Check out Ahava's website here

Stay tuned for more Birchbox reviews starting in January!

Happy 1 Month to my little man!

Well this has been the best, most rewarding, fastest, and craziest month of my life and it is all because of this little man right here.

Happy 1 Month to my baby boy! Love you!

Weight Watchers

Most people start signing up for Weight Watchers since it’s a new year, but for me it’s not the case. For me it's baby weight and that just happens to line up with my New Years Resolutions! I have done WW in the past and I find it really helpful when trying to lose some weight. It forces me to be more conscious of portion size and also what I am snacking on throughout the day. And the most influential piece of all of it, I have to weigh in, in front of someone once a week. That alone keeps me in check!

I gained a great deal of weight with my pregnancy and was super swollen with fluid retention. I lost 25 pounds in the first week…so if that doesn’t tell you how huge I got I don't know what will!! My baby was only 6 lbs…go figure! I did not eat as well as I should have or planned like I used to while pregnant, and although I wish I was better I don’t have any regrets. I ate what made me not sick and I did what felt good and since I spent the majority of my 9 months pretty uncomfortable and miserable I was willing to do anything to make me feel ok.

There is also a bit of weight that I would like to lose that I gained after getting married a year ago. I got some of those “love pounds” people talk about. I was happy and content, and didn’t have to worry about fitting in my wedding gown so yea, I put on a few L-Bs.
Long story short, girlfriend needs to shed some pounds if I ever want to get use out of my closest again! And I miss my clothes god dammit! I have to read up on their new Points Plus 2012 plan…they said that is has changed a bunch since the last time I was on the plan.

This year I am looking forward to getting back on track and will be posting some recipes and whatnot as I try some of them out. I am also going to try to post my weigh in's each week as well, just add a whole new level of accountability to this shindig!

Signed up last week on 1/1, Sundays are my weight in days, and I just came from my first meeting since starting. I had 2 successes at this meeting.

1) I lost 2.8 (YAY!!!)
2) I brought my little man with me and he behaved for the whole hour while I stayed for the meeting (double YAY!)

Going weekly and staying for the meetings really help so I need to continue doing it as much as my new lifestyle will allow. So stay tuned for more!

Anyone else out there a WW person? Or have any sites to share for ideas and recipes?

Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year!

For some reason this blog didn't post yesterdeay even though I set it to!

Happy New Year everyone! So excited to have it be 2012. The hubby and I were out wandering in Target with the baby to get out for a bit at 9pm....then when we left we figured why not go out for a few since he was snoozing in his car sear. So we had a low key night stopping by a friends party. One if the many joys of  a brand new baby...it could be 2am or 2pm they just dont know the differnce yet!

As much as 2011 was an amazing year for me, with the birth of my first baby, it was also one of the toughest years of my life. I am looking forward to getting my goals straight this year, and refocusing my energy.

I have a love/hate relationship with New Years Resolutions, they are great in concept, but typically never meet the execution. This year, I have resolutions that I truly want to see executed over the next 12 months for sure.

So here they are!
  • Live an overall healthlier lifestyle. I will be going on a diet to lose the baby weight...but more importantly than losing weight I just want us to live healthier. We have a baby now, so the importance of setting a good example, and being healthy to live a long and healthy life has a whole new importance!
  • Exercise, this goes along with everything above too...just be more active. Not neccesarily a gym membership that I won't go to, but more taking on Yoga and Pilates that I know I enjoy to reach that zen place of relaxation. Using my Wii fit more, and some of my workout DVDs at home. Jillian Michaels was kicking my butt a year ago, I am sure she could do it again now.
  • Order out or go out for dinner less. Doesn't everyone have this on their list? It means eating better, and also saving money.
  • Which brings me to my next one..save more money. Build a savings account and college fund for my son. And works towards paying off our debt, building up our savings account, and start putting money aside for a house again.
  • Clip coupons! Sounds silly...but sometimes we spend so much money out of convenience and are just frivulous with our money. I think using coupons makes your more conscious when shopping.
  • Blog more consistently. Last year was kind of an unpredictable one and I was caught up being pregnant and super sick, so this year is a fresh start. It will be hard juggling with a newborn, but I already find it easier than being pregnant most of the time!
  • Continue with my photography interests. I want to make more of it than just a generic hobby. I was starting to take some classes last year and get more into, but again I was plagued with pregnancy for a little while so this with a whole slew of things feel off the radar.
  • And the most important focus for this year, and it's a new one, is to be the best Mom I can possibly be so my adorable little baby boy! I have never loved something so much, and I just want to be a better person for him and because of him. I want to set good examples, and be a great support to him growing up. I love my family of me, my husband and our son and I just want to continue on getting stronger and closer as our new little group of three!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe new years!
