The Look For Less

Christian Louboutin. What more is there to say? Besides amazing...

Check out these wedge heels. I have been looking at these for a while now, and while I do love them, I do not love their $535 pricetag. But aren't they perfect?!?!

Well today I was browsing Piperlime.com and came across these shoes.

Are they not identical? Ok maybe not identical, but they are damn close aren't they??

Pricetag: $79.00 with FREE SHIPPING!

Need I say more?

I am LOVING that Black Swan came out on DVD yesterday! I need to pick this up on Bluray ASAP!

I am LOVING my dog! That isn't just this Wednesday...but everyday! (don't mind the messy hair!)

And I am LOVING all my new followers!! Thanks so much for reading!

That is about it for this week! I am loving a whole lot more this week too that is somewhat consuming my mind lately...but that is something to get into another day!

Happy Hump Day!!

Because this is worth it's own indivdual post...

I have fallen in love....

With an Ice Cream.

Now just when I thought this time of the year brought the most wonderful thing...

The other fabulous piece of this year sneaked up on me! The little crowd of girl scouts outside my supermarket trying to sell me cookies.

Now as much as I love them and support them...this year I successfully avoided them! I have not bought one single box of girl scout cookies.

And then this was discovered....its the world best cookie mixed with Ice Cream to create heaven in a bowl in my living room on a random Tuesday night.

Check out this amazing-ness why don't you....it is LIMITED EDITION! Which means stock up and enjoy!!

Who's on their way out to get it right now?!?!?!

My Swap Gift!!

I participated in the Spring Swap that Liz and Janna hosted.
My swap partner was Jessica at Pearls and Pink Polka Dots! We are clearing bloggy twins with out blog titles!

This was my very first swap and it was so much fun! It was great to get to know another blogger, and it was so fun shopping for a gift and shipping it her way! And it is always fun receiving a gift in the mail too.

And let me tell you...girl hooked me up!!

Check out my MAJOR gift box, I got all kinds of good stuff!

I got a Cynthia Rowley picture frame, a new bottle of Essie nail polish (which I am obsessed with anyway!), Some bath soaps, two Yankee Candle Votives in a Lemon Cupcake scent, Two magnetic note pads, a stationary card set, a Lilly Pulitizer photo album, Some cute pencils, Jelly Beans!, A "K" hook, some dots to decorate some cupcakes with, cute set of paper plates and napkins, and that yellow thing in the front...that WAS a lineup of Lindt chicks for Easter. I ate them all before I could take the picture!

Thanks so much Jessica! You were a great swap partner!!

Nice to Meet You Monday! Week 4

One of the best things about blogging is randomly meeting a fellow blogger from your own state!  I am happy to introduce Lamb Loves who lives in the Boston area like I do! Go check out her fabulous blog at Lamb Loves!

What are five words to best describe your personality?
Easy Going, Enthusiastic, Loving/Compassionate, Silly, Friendly

Favorite hobbies when not blogging?
Gymnastics was my hobby for my entire life & I miss it so much! When the weather is nice, I love going for walks with my iPod or with a friend and catching up.  My boyfriend and I love trying new restaurants, so I guess that can be considered a hobby of mine.  I love reading and wish I devoted more time to it (I used to read one book a week). I also love anything creative – I used to make jewelry & would love to get back into it! I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but I love baking when I am at home visiting my mother. I desperately need a Kitchen-Aid mixer in my apartment.

What made you decide to create a blog?
When I was thinking of my New Years resolutions, I decided that I wanted to get involved in something creative that I can do everyday or most days. I love crafts, etc., and I felt like a blog would be a good way to get my creativity out and do something ‘for me’.

What inspired your blog name?
Ever since I was little, I have always wanted a nickname and (finally!!) in college, most of my friends all began to call me “Lamb”.  When I started my blog, I could not come up with anything super witty or sophisticated, so I decided to just make a blog name that would alliterate. So, Lamb Loves was born!

How old is your blog?
I have only been blogging for about two months.

Describe your own personal style.
I never know if I should classify myself as “preppy” or not. I love cardigans and headbands, but I don’t wear a lot of stereotypical “prep” items. I like looking presentable but comfortable. I love J.Crew, but I also wear a lot of black!

What would be your go-to outfit on any given day?
When I’m not at home, I love wearing leggings with boots and a long wrap sweater with loads of bangles or a big necklace and Torys. I am a cardi & scarf girl, and 99% of the time I am wearing one or the other.  In the spring and summer, I love wearing silk tops from J.Crew with jeans. Whenever I am at home relaxing, I am almost always wearing Juicy sweats. They are far too comfortable to not wear! I also love So-Lows. I have a few sets but I mainly love the bottoms (I think I have almost 10 pairs, a tad excessive!).

Favorite item in your closet right now?
I am obsessed with the red quilted Revas from TB that I bought on a whim! I am absolutely obsessed with them! I try to pair them with as much as I can so I can wear the often.

What items are you complete lusting over and wishing for? No spending limits, it can be anything!!
Well, I have a crazy list that my friends make fun of me for. Here is an abridged list – Hermes Clic-Clac Bangle (and, obviously, a Birkin!), Burberry Mega Check wrap, Michele Deco Day Diamond Watch, Louis Vuitton Artsy MM handbag, Alexander McQueen Skull Silk Chiffon Scarf, and a workout wardrobe entirely from Lululemon.

Who is your style icon?
I love the stylist for Blair on Gossip Girl. I think she always looks so put together. I wish I could raid her closet. She always wears Milly (which I love!).

If you read a bunch of blogs, what are your favorite posts topics?
I generally like reading about fashion/shopping and people’s trips, weekends, weddings, etc!

What types of blogs are you drawn to? (i.e. DIY, crafting, fashion, home décor design)
I love blogs that have a little bit of everything.  Most of the blogs I read are based on fashion & retail, but also include DIYs, crafts & recipes, and things about the blogger than I can relate to.

Name 5 of your favorite blogs right now! Newly discovered or old faithfuls!
I read a ton of blogs, so it actually is difficult to narrow down to five. Since your readers already read Pink, Pearls and Polka Dots, here are five other blogs that I read & adore –

Aspiring Kennedy

Lamb - I love PIPM...such a good blog! And Blair wardrobe is beyond fabulous! Your wish list is pretty amazing and I want one of everything on it too! Thank you so much for being involved in the Nice to Meet You Monday!

Now even though this is officially the last Monday in March, I did have one other blogger that I definitely wanted to interview. So stay tuned for next weeks Nice to Meet You Monday finale!

Weekend Catch-Up

What a busy weekend! Is there any weekend that isn't busy? I am learning that a nice relaxing weekend is few and far in between.

Saturday we had a lot of running around to do, some visiting with family, a little bit of shopping with friends, and ended the day watching the Gangs of New York with my husband. Not a movie I would recommend...just not my thing.

Then Sunday has come and gone!!! We did a lot of spring cleaning, and closet organization. Just some of the much needed stuff to get done around the house. No project completed yet, but we have some things in the works which is what matters. We have a home project list that we are trying to get through, so this is just the beginning!

Other than that, it;s 9:30pm....and another week of work is just 12 hours away! I am trying not to dread it too much...is it bad that I already can't wait for next weekend?!?!?!?

Hope everyone's weekends went well!

Some Movie Reviews!

I have been wanting to post this for days now...but I was out of town this weekend, and then came home to our Internet being down! Talk about devastating...but I am back up and running!

Some movie recaps!! The hubby and I are total movie buffs, and for the last couple of weeks we have been on a Netflix watching spree!

Here are some of my reviews:

Life As We Know It
Katherine Heigl is everywhere! And I loved her in Knocked Up, so that means I see every movie she comes out with.  I decided to purchase this one since I always like her movies. This was cute, entertaining, but predictable as many romantic comedies can be. It was exactly what I was expecting it to be though, so I was not disappointed at all. I don't mind Josh Duhmel...but I think they could have picked someone else a tad bit better than him. Maybe Jim from the Office would have been entertaining? Or

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

The Switch
I love Jennifer Aniston, but her movies never seem to do it for me. Marley and Me she was really great in. And the newer movie with Adam Sandler, Just Go With It was hilarious. But other than that I have been disappointed. The Switch is a movie I will add to a Jennifer Aniston success, it was really cute!  You fall in love with her and Jason Bateman as the main characters and that little boy was just the cutest. Another predictable one, but none the less a great movie.

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

Inception
I have to admit...I was in and out for this one. While I love Leonardo DiCaprio...I couldn't get into this one. However, my husband LOVED it! It was definitely a movie that made you think, and almost seemed confusing to follow. But the review from the hubby is a thumbs up for Inception!

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

The Client List
This was a TV movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the last year or so. I caught it on TV and then I bought it on DVD when it came out. Watched it again and really enjoyed it. I am a huge fan of J Love....but besides liking her anyway, I think this movie was some of her best acting I have seen! She played the part very well and was extremely believable. The movie is interesting, and definitely entertaining, but I can see it not being for everyone. I enjoyed it...so let me know if you saw it and what your thoughts were!

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

Did You Hear About the Morgans?
It was cute...entertaining..but not a movie to own and watch over and over again. I caught this on HBO and had been wanting to see it. I see anything with SJP in it since I adore her from the SATC days...but this movie was just mediocre. Not bad...because I was entertained....but not the best movie ever either. Hugh Grant was good, but I like him. It appears as though a lot of people don't? Not sure...but I think he's a good actor! All in all, a good time passer!

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

Due Date
If you liked The Hangover, or you are a Robert Downey Jr. fan than you will love this movie! It was hysterical, laugh out-loud funny! We actually purchased this on DVD and we were glad we did since it was so good. Zach Galifianakis was just as good in this movie as he was in the Hangover.  The guys is out of his mind...which makes for some scenes. And the mix of him and Downey was just beyond hilarious. Rent this now!!

Check out the IMDB page for a full synopsis!

Let me know if you have seen any of these and what your thoughts are! And if you have any movies to recommend! Romantic comedies can't come into the theaters fast enough for me...I just love them!

Nice to Meet You Monday! Week 3

I recently came across a blog with this girl who has A-MAZING style. She always looks fab and stylish! I was excited when she wanted to be involved in the Nice to Meet You Monday series! Come meet Mimi at the Aesthetic Lounge!

What are five words to best describe your personality?
Outgoing, Loyal, Introspective, Laid-back, Funny (at least I sure do think I am!!)

Favorite hobbies when not blogging?
Jewelry Design, Dancing, Photography, SHOPPING, Traveling, Baking

What made you decide to create a blog?
I really wanted an outlet to openly experiment with styling as well as a way to connect with people who love what I love. I was also still in school for Image Consulting, which is sort of like styling except it involves more of a personal appearance perspective (ie, skincare, grooming, etc) as well as the goal of the person looking good in the clothing, rather than the clothing looking good on the person…if that makes sense. The fact that I was in school really made we want to keep some sort of "journal" of what I was learning. A blog made perfect sense!

What inspired your blog name?
It just kind of came to me. I had friend who kept using the word "aesthetic" and it stuck with me. I found myself using it a lot as well. I wanted a name that encompasses everything that is visually pleasing. The lounge part was because I wanted a "place" to "go" and relax, be myself, and have fun, and I thought the name combined the two aspects well.

How old is your blog?
A year and one month;)

Describe your own personal style.
I wear comfortable clothes whenever possible. I also like to layer a lot and combine different elements to make my outfit unique. I believe that comfortable doesn't have to mean forgoing glamour.

What would be your go-to outfit on any given day?
Leggings or tights with a tunic and some sort of cardigan, open button down shirt, or jacket over it. I wear boots A LOT, and I typically wear at least one ring, some bracelets and one or 2 necklaces.

Favorite item in your closet right now?
Can I pick 2? My black Balenciaga messenger bag gets so much wear, its so easy and goes with everything. I also stumbled upon some Jeffery Campbell boots in a unique shade of worn in tan and I ADORE them. They're practically glued to my feet lately!

What items are you complete lusting over and wishing for? No spending limits, it can be anything!!
This particular Prada Bag (input picture1), the Saffiano Camouflage Tote
and also the Chloe Marcie Hobo

Who is your style icon?
I don't have just one. I like the combination of different styles. I love people like Jessica Alba and Rachel Bilson because they both do "comfy chic" so well, but I also adore the well put together look of Olivia Palermo, and the hip, yet feminine look of Jennifer Lopez.

If you read a bunch of blogs, what are your favorite posts topics?
Remixing items of clothing, unique shopping, or up and coming labels I may never have heard of. I also really like recipes and design ideas.

What types of blogs are you drawn to? (i.e. DIY, crafting, fashion, home décor design)
Fashion, Healthy Living, Home Decor, Humor

Name 5 of your favorite blogs right now! Newly discovered or old faithfuls!
This is hard because I have more than 5 favorites right now…
O She Glows - amazingly yummy, healthy recipes
Reserevade Fashion - love this girls remixes and fashion sense
Purse Blog - great way to get updated on all the hottest handbags
World of Fashion Inspiration--she's really versatile, and blogs about many different subjects
A Taste of T - I love to go to this one because it never fails to bring a smile to my face

Thank you Mimi for being involved with this! I look forward to reading your blog more and checking out all the blogs you read regularly!

Friday!!

Finally Friday! It has been one super long week over here.  I have been somewhat missing in the blogging world since my schedule has been a tad bit hectic, but next week should be slowing down and I am looking forward to it.

The past few weeks for me have been kind of a mess. I have just be in an absolute funk, and just when I think I am slowing getting out of it, a day like today hits where everything just goes wrong. I can't get out of my own way! I am all excited it's Friday but my morning is just blowing up with crappy things. I am hoping the afternoon/evening shapes up much better.

At least this weekend my husband and I are getting away with friends. I am SO looking forward to it and desperately need a couple of days to un-wind and re-start!

I hope everyone's weeks have been good and that they are enjoying their Fridays! What is everyone else up to for the weekend?

Keep an eye out for some more posts throughout today and the weekend. We will have a giveaway winner, I have some movie reviews, and some other fun stuff. So stay tuned!

Nice to Meet You Monday! Week 2

This it the second week of the "Nice to Meet You Monday" Series and I am excited to introduce one of my most recently discovered blogs that I just adore! Amber from Brunch with Amber!

What are five words to best describe your personality?
Bubbly, Silly, Ambitious, Confident, Intelligent

Favorite hobbies when not blogging?Making dinner for friends, going to the movies, reading, and I've recently gotten back into going to the gym and actually USING my membership, HA! I pay for it, and I may as well use it, right? I love the classes, such as yoga and pilates. I also love to travel, when I have the money. :)

What made you decide to create a blog?
I've always loved writing or journaling, and one day I was bored at work and was playing around online. I came across a blog, and thought I could do this too. Never in a million years did I think people that I didn't know personally would actually read it and love it. :)

What inspired your blog name?
Well, I knew I wanted my name IN my blog, and I wanted it to be cute, classy and sophisticated. Brunch with Amber just seemed perfect. And so, my blog name was born. ;)

How old is your blog?
About 9 months old, awww. I've only been blogging since June 2009.

Describe your own personal style.
I'm girly and love to get dressed up, but I've got to be comfortable. I won't make myself uncomfortable just to look fabulous. I think you look the best when you're in your comfort zone. Beauty is pain?! Psh, what do they know? ;)

What items are you completely lusting over and wishing for? No spending limits, it can be anything!!!
I LOVE when Coach comes out with their Spring line.. their handbags are to die for.

Also, I'm DYING for a new vehicle. I tend to get bored with cars easily. (I'm on my 7th one, and I've had this one the longest.. 4 years.) I currently want a Honda CR-V.

I could go for a new laptop too. A few of my blog friends are talking about their new macbooks, which has totally made me jealous, so I think I want one of those!

I'll stop here because this list could go on and on! ;)

Who is your style icon?
Jennifer Aniston. That woman makes anything look hot. I envy girls who look good in sweats and a T-shirt. I am NOT that girl, but I sure wish I could be.

If you read a bunch of blogs, what are your favorite post topics?
I like blogs that post about stuff I can relate to, and post with pictures and funny stories. Real life stuff. Also, blogs that blog consistently. That's important.

What type of blogs are you drawn to? (i.e. DIY, crafting, fashion, home decor design)
Fashion, yes. But fashion that's affordable. Crafting, yes. I would LOVE to be more crafty, but I'm too OCD for all that business. I'm draw to blogs that are real, and the writer is someone I can jive with. They seem like someone I would want to have a cup of coffee with.

Name 5 of your favorite blogs right now! Newly discovered or old faithfuls!
Oh God, I 'm only allowed to pick 5?!
JoJo at One Sassy Vixen
Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup
Meghan at Little Girl in the Big World
Lilly at A Pre-Life Crisis
Heather at Blonde...Undercover Blonde

Thank you so much Amber for participating in Nice To Meet You Monday! It was great getting to know you better, and I look forward to checking out some of your favorite blogs!!

The Look for Less - Clover Mania!

I love the movie, When In Rome (came out last year). It was a cute typical chic-flick and was just on TV the other day so I found myself watching it again. I love Kristen Bell's style in this movie, very polished and chic. But more than all of her outfits I adored this long, clover necklace she wore. After some research about it last year I discovered it was Van Cleef...and retailed for about $12k. While I like my expensive things, this is just a non-attainable budget for such a necklace. It pretty...but not $12k pretty.

Kristen bell wearing her fab necklace....

And some pictures of this designer piece I will never own.

So now lets fast foward to 2011. .The new season of the Bachelor starts...and while it seems Brad is falling in love with Emily...I am too! That girl has got killer style and is just beyond gorgeous. All the way from her promo picture she has been rocking the style. And guess what else she is rocking...this clover necklace. Not sure if it's a Van Cleef...but its perfect, and pretty, and simple, and I love it, again.

My favorite blog, Possessionista is the MASTER at all Bachelor/ette fashion and she posted the link for this necklace. It is by Lauren G Adams and can be found on Amazon for $139.99. Now we're talking...that is much more in my budget. I looked at it on Amazon for weeks and for some reason I could not pull the trigger. I was still hesitant to spend over $100 on a fashion necklace. So I held out, and now I know why.

  Buy it HERE

I stumbled upon this beauty this week. The perfect clover necklace. It's not Van Cleef, and it's Not Lauren G Adams, its from an amazing designer on Etsy, NYLightMetals.  And I LOVE it! SO much that I ordered 2!

The Mother of Pearl is what I was looking for, but there was something about this black and gold combo that I could not deny. It looked very Chanel to me, and even though I never wear gold I ordered it anyway. It is sure to glam up any outfit!
I could not beat this deal. The perfect necklace at the perfect price, with free matching earrings included! Just a gorgeous piece so affordable you can not pass this up.  Please checkout her shop..it is filled with amazing-ness!!!

I am seriously lusting after this set next. It looks like the silver/turquoise is a color combo she has sold in the past, so I am hoping she gets it back becasue I love turquoise jewelry!

She even have more simple pieces with just one clover that are perfect too!

Note: I have no affiliation with this etsy seller, I don't even know her! Just a customer who loves her shop. And when I love something enough I blog about.

Shellac Follow-Up

I wanted to follow-up on my Shellac manicure...it is holding up well!

This is day 8

Not a single chip!! They are holding up really well!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend..I am just catching up from a day without internet, phone and cable yesterday!!

Photography

So I have a dream. And that is to be a photographer. That is something I am seriously working towards and hope to pursue as a career at some point. I strongly believe it is good to have goals, and I function much better in life with goals.

As part of this "dream" I am taking a class to gain a better understanding of photography. Each week I have a shoot assigned, and this week was a to take numerous pictures of the same thing during different weather, different times of the day, and various lighting. I chose a river near my house. These are my favorite pictures from this shoot.

Please remember these are nothing I am extremely proud of...but I think they came out semi-decent.

I would love feedback and any constructive criticism if any readers know about photography!

My favorite season is fall, and seeing these leaves that lasted through the winter made me smile :)

I loved seeing the geese and ducks out! Makes me feel like spring is actually on it's way!

I was a big fan of this one. Everything was just so blue that day.

This is not my favorite picture, and the quality looks crappy, but I loved the sun reflection on the water.
